San and Hyra

A two player RPG where players create a morbid storyline using the characters memories.

You and a partner play as the characters ‘San’ and ‘Hyra’, who have woken up in an unfamiliar place with scars on they bodies, and cannot remember what happened. Together, the two of you create a story line detailing the events leading up to this moment, only using the fragmented hazy images on the game board that represent your foggy memory. 

1. Download and print the game board on a single double sided paper

2.  Cut out all the cards and arrange them with the image facing up, in diagonal lines. 

3. Decide your roles and take turns rolling a die across the board, come up with a part of the story using the image it lands on. Once both players have rolled, one round has elapsed, and the next round will be the next stage of the story. There are 6 rounds in total.

4. The number the player rolls on the die will determine if they can flip the card over and get written details about the memory. The probability of this increases with each round: in the first round, if you roll a 1 you flip over the card, any other number, you
must just use the image, In the second round if you role 1-2 you flip the card over, third round 1-3 etc.

5. If you have created a scenario from an image without flipping it, the card remains in the game and if the die lands on it again, you must create a new scenario or expand on the first one. If you have flipped the image, that card must be removed from the board and the other cards must be rearranged to fill the space.
